GH-growth hormone appears to increase the rate of sexual maturation, since a pattern of gonadotropin secretion of puberty is established. GH may modulate the production of gonadal steroids increase insulin-like growth factor-I hepatic production or acting directly on the receptors for GH recently localized in granular cells and corpus luteum in the human ovary. Patients with GHD isolated have longitudinal or linear features low height, trunk fat, and delayed puberty.
CONCLUSIONS:
GH appears to increase the rate of sexual maturation, since a pattern of gonadotropin secretion from the pituitary puberty is established. The ovary is a venue reception and action of GH, where it can enhance steroidogenesis and gametogenesis directly or through endocrine actions. Continued clinical and basic research is needed to further characterize the role of GH in reproductive physiology.
